We keep bees and usually have honey for sale at $5 a pound.  It's raw, minimally filtered, and comes from hives that have not had any form of pesticide, miticide, antibiotic, Crisco, or what-have-you applied.  Our apiary is small, about five hives, and we keep varroa mites at bay with screens.  Our honey can't be certified organic because we're less than two miles from conventional farms where bees might forage, but we're pretty sure our bees get everything they need on our certified organic farm.  There's usually something blooming here, and we're buffered on three sides with woods and on the fourth by water.

Egg production from our backyard flock ebbs and flows, and we sometimes have spare dozens for sale at $3.  Our chickens spend their days ranging outside and unfenced, which can have unpleasant consequences for the vegetable garden, but their eggs are lovely.  We feed organic mash, but do not certify the flock because of the extra fees.

We do not raise meat birds or pigs because they need to eat a lot of grain.  Please visit eatwild.com or the Fair Food Project for information on local chicken and pork.

We no longer raise asparagus or sell blueberries, but you can get organic asparagus from the stores who buy from Albert's Organics.  A lot of their organic asparagus is raised by our neighbors, the Sheppards.  A good source for pick-your-own organic blueberries in New Jersey is Emery's Berry Patch, and bulk purchases of wholesale flats may be available from Lou Condo, at Big Buck Farms in Hammonton.

Right now we give our fleeces to the shearer, Tom Horton, but if someone has a higher need, we'll entertain the possibility.  If necessary, we can always go back to certifying the flock, since our animal husbandry conforms to stricter organic practices than those in the USDA NOP.
